The Maijishan Grottoes, located in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, China, are a magnificent example of Chinese Buddhist art and architecture. The grottoes were first built during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420 AD) and continued to be expanded and embellished over the course of hundreds of years, eventually becoming one of the largest grotto complexes in China. Today, the Maijishan Grottoes are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see destination for travelers interested in Chinese history and culture.
