Introduction to the production process of graphite electrodes at Zhengshan Technology

The main production process of graphite electrodes is as follows:
Calcination. Both petroleum coke and asphalt coke need to be calcined, and the calcination temperature should reach 1350T to fully remove the volatile components contained in the carbonaceous raw materials, improve the true density, mechanical strength, and conductivity of the coke.
Crushing, screening, and batching. Crush and screen the roasted carbonaceous raw materials into designated size aggregate particles, grind some coke into fine powder, weigh according to the formula, and aggregate to form a dry mixture of various particles.
Mix and knead. Mix a certain amount of dry mixture of various particles with a certain amount of binder under heating, and knead to form a plastic paste.
forming. Under external pressure (extrusion molding) or high-frequency vibration (vibration molding), the paste is pressed into a green electrode (green body) with a certain shape and high density.
Baking. Place the electrode in a specially designed calcination furnace, fill and cover it with metallurgical coke powder, and carbonize the binder to form bonded coke at a high temperature of around 1250 ℃, thus producing a calcined carbon electrode.
Immersion. In order to improve the density and mechanical strength of electrode products, the roasted electrode is installed in a high-pressure equipment, and the liquid impregnating agent asphalt is pressed into the pores of the electrode. After impregnation, a secondary roasting should be carried out. Depending on the performance requirements of the product, sometimes impregnation and secondary roasting need to be repeated 2-3 times.
Graphitization. Place the roasted carbon electrode into a graphitization furnace, cover it with insulation material, and use a heating method that generates high temperature directly by electricity. At high temperatures of 2200~3000 ℃, convert the carbon electrode into a graphite electrode with a graphite crystal structure.
machining. According to the usage requirements, perform surface turning, flat end face machining, and screw hole machining on the graphite electrode blank, and process the joints for connection.
After passing the inspection, the graphite electrode is appropriately packaged and sent to the user.
